Abstract

If you’ve been using a computer for a while, you’ve probably figured out a few basic workflows for getting things done. You even may have committed them to muscle memory because you do them over and over. This is ironic, because computers were designed to spare you from boring, repetitive tasks. It’s like tidying your hotel room. Of course, if the hotel room is in another country and you don’t speak the language, what are you going to do? You could be at the nicest hotel in the world with a staff of thousands standing by 24 hours a day to satisfy your every need, but if you don’t know how to ask for help, you may end up tidying your own room, to say nothing of reusing your towels and foraging for coffee.
