Harnessing “the Cloud” on Your Tablet

  • Russell Holly

As capable as your Android tablet is, the device is limited when compared to a laptop or a desktop in many ways. For starters, there’s not nearly as much storage or RAM in a tablet as you’re likely to find in a traditional computer. Additionally, the processor for your traditional computer is going to be much faster. Many apps on your Android tablet have gotten around both limitations by sharing the work of specific tasks with remote computers over an Internet connection. This use of computers other than your tablet, and often located within immense “farms” of computers, is called cloud computing.
