In Chapter 2, we briefly discussed the layout and design of your blog with regard to organization, recommended fonts and colors, and image size and placement. I also presented samples of design templates that can be found on the Web for Blogger and WordPress, as well as those in Blogger’s template designer, in WordPress themes, and those that can be used in TypePad. Here, we will bring that discussion back to life and walk through the steps of customizing your blog’s design. We will install a custom banner—that is, a banner you created, or took a picture of, or had a professional graphic designer prepare for you. Then, to complement the new banner, we’ll adjust your blog’s color scheme to coordinate with the new banner, and make any other changes necessary (such as adjusting column widths).
