Abstract

Evaluating a policy is the process of executing a policy and reviewing the results against the desired configuration on the target instance. Policy-Based Management provides several options and configurations for evaluating policies:

  • You can evaluate policies against a single registered SQL Server instance or a group of instances.

  • You can configure policy evaluation to check on change, on schedule, or on demand.

  • You can configure Policy-Based Management to allow and log the noncompliant changes, or to prevent and roll back changes.

  • You can schedule evaluation of single or multiple policies against a given SQL Server instance.
