Abstract
IE as a web browser has changed significantly from its inception, in the same way that the Web and its usage have evolved. IE 8 lives in a world where web applications have been stretched farther than was even imaginable 15 years ago when the first version of IE was released; the length and scope of this chapter reflects that well.
Beyond the browser frame, IE is a broad and deep platform that provides a wide range of functionality to applications beyond traditional HTML and CSS. In the following chapters, I will go deep into a number of these topics and provide you with the concise information and practical examples required to build great web and desktop applications. Let the journey begin!
