In this chapter, I review the concepts of people, roles, and permissions and how you can customize the way your site interacts with the people who use it. People are added to your site and are assigned one or more roles, giving them permission to access various features such as commenting or creating a web page. I discuss several topics, such as how to add a user, how to create a role, and how to change permissions. I cover the many different sections and screens available in Drupal to configure your site, including the account settings page and the IP address blocking page. By the end of this chapter, you will know how to change system-generated e-mails, how to change who can register for an account, how to change what happens when people cancel their account, and more. Let’s go!
