Abstract
Version 3 of the Google Maps API is a complete remake. This means that in order to transfer your existing code from v2 to v3, you will need to rewrite most of it. This chapter is meant primarily for readers who are already familiar with v2. It will show the main differences between the old and new APIs and how to perform common tasks. It’s not a complete reference, but it will provide you with pointers to other parts of the book where you can learn more about how to use specific features. This chapter assumes that you have a pretty good understanding of JavaScript in general and of v2 of the API in particular.
