Abstract

A picture is worth a thousand words, and Visio provides the canvas and the tools to create drawings that represent ideas and concepts ranging from network topologies to landscape design, and process diagrams to UML. Visio allows us to take complexity and model it visually making it much easier to share ideas and information concisely. Visio provides templates and shapes for many common scenarios and additional elements can be downloaded or even created and added to the toolbox. But we can go even further. What if we use these Visio drawings to surface data in a visual manner, bringing deeper understanding, context, and richness to our drawings? Using Visio you can connect the information stored across disparate repositories to shapes, and now the drawing is dynamic instead of static. With the release of SharePoint 2010 and Visio 2010 we now have the additional ability to publish our drawings to the web while still providing the dynamic and interactive capabilities to our users.
