Abstract

Chapter 8 introduced you to the PBI system of installing and managing software. While this is the preferred way to handle software on your PC-BSD system, it is not the only method available to you. This chapter will introduce you to FreeBSD packages, the second easiest way to manage software on your PCBSD system. Chapter 9 will introduce you to FreeBSD ports, which allow advanced users to customize their software installations.
