Automatic MySQL Database Performance Tuning

Abstract

In this chapter, we are going to extend the plug-in framework that we built in Chapter 6. As you may remember, the plug-in framework allows us to extend an application’s functionality by implementing new methods outside the main application code. The new framework will allow for the plug-ins to generate data and submit it back to the application, so the other plug-ins are able to reuse it. Based on the new framework, we will build an application that inspects the MySQL database configuration and live statistics and makes performance-tuning suggestions. We’ll look at some of the tuning parameters and write a few plug-ins.
