Abstract

In this, the fourth and final part of the book, we’ll move our widgets off the traditional Web—on the screen of a desktop or notebook computer—and out into the wider world. Our vehicle for doing so is the smartphone, a handheld computer that utilizes its wireless capabilities to access the Internet from virtually anywhere. In recent years, smartphones have been the fastest-growing segment of the mobile phone industry, and the possibilities that they offer to gadget developers are unprecedented.
