Web Browsing with Mobile Safari

  • Ryan J. Faas

Abstract

Web browsers have been available on mobile phones for about a decade, but they have typically been stripped-down browsers that didn’t display web pages anywhere near what they would look like on a computer. For the iPhone, Apple designed a mobile version of its Safari browser that renders pages using the same engine as the desktop version of Safari. And because multitouch makes it easy to pinch and zoom, pages don’t need to be reformatted to fit the iPhone’s smaller screen. In this chapter, I’ll walk you through using Safari to surf the Web and discuss the various settings available to tailor and secure your web experience to your needs.
