A frequent theme in this book is the importance of AppleScript in managing and manipulating user data. While applications such as iTunes and Mail provide their own custom storage systems for managing specific types of data such as music and e-mail collections, there are many other data management tasks which require a more flexible, user-customizable solution. To meet these needs, users can turn to general-purpose database applications, and—naturally—AppleScript can play an key role in working with these applications too.
