Abstract

In this chapter we will look at some useful supporting features available to AppleScript users. We will begin by looking at how AppleScript can integrate with the Mac OS X Services menu. Next, we will look at ways to trigger scripts automatically, first by scheduling them to run at specific times, and then by configuring them to run in response to user actions in the Finder. After that, we will take a look at the GUI Scripting features of System Events that allow AppleScript to control desktop applications that do not provide a scripting interface of their own. Lastly, we’ll look at the various ways you can work with the Mac OS X clipboard.
