Abstract
in this chapter, we’ll be examining what is, perhaps, the iPhone’s defining feature: touch input. Although many devices have used touch screens over the years, the iPhone was the first to bring multitouch to the masses. It also takes a different approach to input in general. Where many have transferred desktop-style interfaces to touch-screen devices, using a stylus in lieu of a mouse, the iPhone creates a new set of conventions, swapping pointer accuracy for responsiveness, simplicity, and direct manipulation of the interface.
