Supporting Indexing and Search

Abstract

I think that Web 3.0 will feature small, fine-grained, forcused applications that encapsulate data and services. These web applications often provide direct search functionality through both web interfaces and remote APIs for searching the published data. I’ll explore several approaches for supporting search. I start this chapter with an overview of available off-the-shelf options for indexing and search. I will discuss the pros and cons of these options and the factors that might affect your selection decisions. For reference, I will provide some examples of using each of the search options covered in the first part of this chapter.
