Domain Name System (DNS) is probably one of the most misunderstood technologies in use on the Internet today. Despite that neither the Web nor e-mail would be possible without it, many people do not understand how it works or why it’s important. To be fair, that’s not all that surprising because DNS is one of those technologies that sits in the background quietly getting the job done. The only time people really think about DNS is when they can’t connect to a web site or their e-mail isn’t working.
