We’ve talked a little about semantic markup in the Introduction as well as in previous chapters—using elements that apply meaning to the document, rather than using elements purely for presentational purposes. While constructing purely semantic web pages is a nice idea, I see it more as an ideal and a target to strive for. Not hitting the bull’s-eye doesn’t mean all is for naught; rather, getting close to the mark is, at the very least, a worthy effort.
