Abstract

In the preceding chapters, you’ve seen many examples of using custom scripting to solve mapping problems. Sometimes, the most effective use of scripting is not in the map. This is particularly true when a script is one that is reusable without modification. In this chapter, we examine the building of custom external assemblies and custom functoids. One example of an external assembly, used for universal date conversions, was presented in Chapter 3. We expand that assembly here by adding some utility functions that are handy for mapping. Once that is complete, we’ll build a custom functoid that contains the same functions.
