Abstract

The most common way to create a web site is to present HTML web pages back to the user for rendering in a browser. Chapter 5 describes how developing applications that render HTML content has evolved over the last decade; it details how ASP.NET can be employed to render HTML server side using data returned from ADO.NET data services, and how client- Side AJAX techniques can be used to consume data services within the browser to manipulate the HTML DOM. In this chapter we are going to look at an alternative technology for creating web sites called Silverlight, and how to consume data services within Silverlight solutions.
