Working with the Operating System

Abstract

In this chapter, some of the coolest advanced features provided by Adobe AIR will be shown. These features allow the applications you create to be completely integrated with the operating system. You’ll learn how to do the following:
  • Pass command-line arguments from the operating system shell to an air application

  • Start an installed AIR application from a web page (installation is covered in more detail in Chapter 13)

  • Create applications that start up with the operating system

  • Associate file types with an AIR application

  • Call the user’s attention through operating system notifications

The next section will introduce you to the options that AIR applications can use upon startup.
