Abstract
Adobe AIR can use SQL databases natively, which means that Actionscript applications created with Flash CS4 or Flex 3 no longer need to use server-side languages such as Java, PHP, and .NET as intermediaries to manage complex databases. The SQL access offered to ActionScript applications makes it possible to manage data that was initially precluded or difficult to implement solely with Flash.
