Abstract

This chapter focuses on the concept of autonomous transactions, which were first introduced in Oracle 8i. Here, I briefly explain transaction management prior to autonomous transactions and go on to outline how this feature enables developers to execute and then commit or roll back part of a transaction without affecting the overall session’s transaction. Finally, I present some key points regarding autonomous transactions.
