How Do I Visually Manage Objects?

  • Josef Finsel

One of the beauties of Microsoft SQL Server has always been that many of the tasks of a traditional database administrator (DBA) can easily be handled from the Enterprise Manager (EM). In this chapter we’ll focus on using parts of the EM to manipulate the database. In subsequent chapters we will be focusing heavily on using the EM to work with the server and the databases, but bear in mind that just about everything we’re going to cover can also be done through Transact SQL statements. In fact, many of the functions presented through the EM are just Transact SQL commands behind the scenes. So, let’s start by answering a fairly obvious question.
