Enabling Data Access

  • Russell Sinclair

One of the keys to the success of a SQL Server database application is how efficient the data access methods are. Your application will use SQL Server tables and views as the main interfaces for accessing data. Designing tables and views so that they make data available efficiently is one of the most important parts of a migration. It is not sufficient to just copy the design of a table from Access to SQL Server. The rules that affect the performance of data requests on tables are very different between these two systems, and you should be aware of these rules, so that you can get the most out of SQL Server in your new application.
