DataSets Inside Out: Navigating

  • Peter Wright

Abstract

The classes that comprise ADO.NET are incredibly powerful, especially when compared to the features available in previous incarnations of Microsoft’s dataaccess technologies. They are also very circular. It’s impossible to talk at any length about a DataSet without knowing anything about the DataTable class, hence the extensive coverage of that subject in the last chapter. Although it is possible to work with DataTables without the use of a DataSet, it’s through using a DataSet and its extensive features that DataTables really come into their own. ADO.NET is the computer equivalent of the age-old chicken and egg question.
