Viewing and Setting Server-wide Options

Abstract

Large corporations often have vast server rooms packed full of servers, as you will find if you work with them. We’ve encountered corporations with 20–50 SQL Servers running, all of which must be managed properly. SQL-DMO really helps in these vast environments to automate your work so that you can sit back and do the interesting stuff instead of fighting fires most of the day. For example, you can script out your server properties for all SQL Servers in the enterprise. In the event of disaster recovery, you know exactly how your server was set up because you’ve scripted it all out using your nifty SQL-DMO VBScript, Visual Basic, or C# program (or whatever you want to use).
