Tuning Applications for Superior Performance

Abstract

Tuning an application is an art rather than a science. So, the more you put performance-tuning ideas into practice, the more familiar you become with the power and limitations of these ideas. However, nothing can be as fruitless as applying a performance-tuning principle without understanding the underlying mechanics. Therefore, this chapter starts by looking under the hood of Flex and related player features that impact performance. Once the foundational matters have been established, we progress to fine-tuning applications for better performance.
