But before a virus can do anything, it has to be running on your computer—which means that it has to get onto your system in the first place. That’s what this chapter is all about. I’ll include some hints and previews on how to protect yourself in this chapter, but the focus will be on how the viruses spread—protection will be the focus of the six chapters that follow.
