COM-to-.NET Interoperability—Intermediate Topics

  • Andrew Troelsen

In the previous chapter you were presented with the key tidbits of information required to expose a.NET type to COM. In this chapter, you build on these basics and examine how to expose.NET enumerations and custom UDTs (System.ValueTypes) to unmanaged COM clients. As well, this chapter examines how more elaborate.NET patterns, such as delegates, collections, and custom exceptions, are mapped into terms of classic COM. You wrap up by examining further details of exposing.NET interfaces and interface hierarchies to unmanaged COM clients.
