Commercial Java Persistence Libraries and Frameworks

  • Richard Sperko

Marley was dead: to begin with. There is no doubt whatever about that. And there is no doubt whatever about the question whether it is cheaper to build or to buy. Having explored open source persistence frameworks, we now know that there are options to spending a great deal of our time and energy writing persistence layers. Besides the open source products, there are also the commercial versions. These often seem costly at the beginning of a project, but by the end of almost every project I have been on, a lot more money was spent creating the persistence layer by hand.
