Exploring the Java Platform

  • Austin Sincock

Abstract

The first chapter in this book provided a quick rundown of the various technologies used by SAP to provide customers with infrastructure connectivity After several hits and misses, including the as yet unknown fate for Microsoft’s.NET Framework, SAP seems to have settled on Enterprise Java as the platform of choice for middleware integration. Does this mean that you shouldn’t pursue one of the other avenues outlined in the previous chapter? Absolutely not. The path you follow for developing infrastructure and Web-aware applications should be based on your company’s overall platform and network implementation.
