Comparing and Sorting Database Objects

  • Linchi Shea

Abstract

One of the tasks Database Administrators (DBAs) often must perform, especially in the context of configuration or change management, is to compare the schemas of database objects. The database objects can be tables, views, stored procedures, triggers, and user-defined functions to name a few. The objects can be in the same database or in two different databases. And the databases could be on the same server or on two different servers.
