Creating an Oracle Database

  • Sam R. Alapati

Abstract

In this chapter, you’ll create a database from scratch. Oracle9i comes with a starter database in both Windows and UNIX versions, and it provides several templates for database creation, including the decision support systems (DSS) and online transaction processing (OLTP) templates. You can also invoke the Oracle Database Configuration Assistant (DBCA), a GUI tool, to guide you through the installation process.
