In May of 1997, I ditched Case Western’s graduation ceremony in favor of driving to Minnesota. I was going to be working in Minneapolis, and I wanted to familiarize myself with my new surroundings before I started. I rented a U-Haul truck, packed up everything that I owned, and headed west on Interstate 90. I made the mistake of driving through downtown Chicago on a Friday afternoon and, all told, it took roughly three days to get from Cleveland to Minneapolis.
