Abstract

When people talk about application testing, they mostly talk about testing the software to discover bugs and prove the correctness of the application’s behavior. We often refer to this kind of testing as functional testing. On the other hand, there’s the fact that sometimes you run up against performance problems that need to be rectified in order to make your applications viable. Consequently, we also need to test applications in order to discover performance problems and prove that the application performs as expected or required. The software industry has developed many test strategies, techniques, and tools to combat the potential bugs and performance bottlenecks in software. In this chapter, we will take a close look at one performance testing tool, namely, Application Center Test, which comes with Visual Studio.NET Enterprise Editions.
