Abstract

From the edifice of the American judicial system to the liberal coven of the open source community, it is a widely accepted fact that Microsoft’s business is to write software that is tied to its Windows operating system. Although Windows is often disparaged as being technically inferior, difficult to use, and expensive, by consistently coupling its software products to the operating system, Microsoft has managed to grow into one of the most successful business empires that the world has ever seen.
