In SQL-89 and SQL-92 terms, Firebird tables are persistent base tables. The standards define several other types, including viewed tables, which Firebird implements as views (see Chapter 24) and derived tables, which Firebird could be said to implement as selectable stored procedures (see Chapters 28 and 30).
