Abstract

Corporations that decide to offshore have a number of obstacles they must circumnavigate. In this chapter, I’m not going to discuss whether offshore outsourcing is a good thing or a bad thing (I deal with that later, trust me). Rather, I’m going to assume that outsourcing is an a priori decision and then go from there. In this chapter, on behalf of my publisher, I assume the neutral frame of reference of a management consultant whose only interest is to advise his client of potential problems. This isn’t Reverend Blunden speaking (with the exception of the sections “Intellectual Property” and “National Security”). If you want my opinion, read Chapter 5.
