Waste Not, Want Not

  • Connor McDonald

Most evenings when I get home from work, I typically relax for a while, read the newspaper, and crack open a stubby (for those readers not familiar with Australian colloquialisms, this means that I have a bottle of beer). It is this activity that earns me a rap on the knuckles from my wife; firstly because she gets to observe firsthand my ever expanding waistline, and secondly, because I always forget to throw the newspaper and (now empty) beer bottle into the bin marked “Recycling.” I am fully aware of the importance of recycling, but it is the easier (and lazier) option to just throw glass bottles and newspapers out with the normal trash.
