Abstract
SQL Reporting Services provides a platform for developing and managing reports in an environment that includes multiple data sources of information. Standards such as ODBC, OLE DB, and .NET facilitate obtaining the data from these disparate data stores. Because many systems have one or more of these types of drivers, Reporting Services can access both relational and nonrelational data such Active Directory, LDAP stores, and Exchange Server. In the SRS report design environment that’s embedded within Visual Studio .NET, configuring a data set that drives the report content is the first step of the design process.
