UML Models of Development Processes

  • Martin L. Shoemaker

Throughout this book, I’ve focused on Five-Step UML, a lightweight model-centered development process, but in this chapter, I’ll take a step back and examine some other common modeling processes. I’ll start with the (now defunct) Waterfall Model, and then look at the Spiral Process, before moving on to a more in-depth discussion of the Unified Process. You’ll also see how Five-Step UML fits in. Finally, I’ll discuss the more recent paradigm of Extreme Programming.
