Generating a WinForms Application

Maximize the role of code generation by generating your Windows user interfaces
  • Kathleen Dollard

Abstract

WinForms (the Windows. Forms namespace) applications present additional challenges for code generation because the output code is tightly integrated into an extensive design-time and runtime library. The code you’d like to generate is initially interspersed with the code you need to handcraft..NET contains features that allow code separation, but the approach may not be intuitive. This chapter covers WinForms fundamentals with designs that make user interface generation practical, provides solutions to specific issues, and walks through a portion of the downloadable templates. You’ll also see how an additional task-specific transformation can simplify your templates.
