Mapping Database Structure into Business Objects

Map between your database structure and business objects to allow variations between these structures, now and as your application evolves
  • Kathleen Dollard

Although your business objects are designed to interact with database information, your business object structure may not map directly to your database structure—or this mapping may become more complex as your application evolves. Variations in mapping might involve hidden housekeeping tables, semi-obsolete columns, and joined views of your data, as well as other issues. For example, you may have classes that don’t expose a child to keep your client-side objects from becoming huge and unwieldy.
