Abstract

The history of the programming industry over the past ten years troubles me. This is our industry, and I’m passionate about keeping it healthy. We’ve just passed through a very unhealthy cycle. A crash in our industry was the natural result of an astounding volume of wasted money. Many factors contributed to this waste—but a fundamental reason is that we’re writing programs the same way we did 20 years ago even though we’re writing entirely different programs. It’s time for a change, and you’re on the front lines of that change.
