It’s safe to assume that at some point you’ll need to ship fixes or updates to your application. In this chapter I’ll examine some of the ways you can do this. I’m going to start with perhaps the simplest type of upgrade that you can do with VS. In Windows Installer terms, the simplest type of upgrade is a major upgrade, which you trigger in a VS Setup and Deployment project by setting the RemovePreviousVersions project property to True. Later on I’ll discuss minor upgrades, and in Chapter 12 I’ll describe patches, which are usually the preferred way to ship fixes to a product.
