Sequences of Events and Custom Actions

  • Phil Wilson

It’s clear from watching an installation that it starts with a user interface (UI) sequence in which data is collected and shown to the user, but nothing yet seems to have changed on the target system. This sequence typically concludes by displaying a Next button (maybe an Install button with other packages), after which a progress bar is shown while the installation happens. A Cancel button is on display, and if you click it you’ll see that the installation rolls back, undoing whatever the installation had done to the system. This UI viewpoint does reflect the inner workings of the installation process fairly accurately.
