Abstract

Welcome to Chapter 8, where you will apply what you’ve learned about the Spring Framework to building high-quality web applications with the Spring MVC web application framework. This chapter, as an introduction and tour of Spring MVC, certainly does not stand on its own. Before diving into this chapter, we recommend that you have a good understanding of the following:

  • The ApplicationContext and its configuration files

  • Dependency injection

  • Data access, such as JdbcTemplate

  • Transaction management

  • Spring AOP
