Abstract

Active Record interacts with SQL primarily on a CRUD (create, read, update, delete) basis. Those are the only actions that happen to model objects, and there are a number of ways that Active Record makes their use much easier on programmers. In this chapter, we’re going to go over how each of these actions translates to the SQL you would normally use to accomplish the same tasks. Then, we’ll show you how you can accomplish other common SQL functions, such as locking and transactions.
