Summary

Server Health manager is a new management module in Open Enterprise Server that allows you to get a quick overview of the health of servers in your network. Two types of monitoring are currently supported—of which, the most interesting is the Robust Health status of a server. This view is only supported if on the server the OpenWBEM modules are active. OpenWBEM is the underlying architecture that allows Health Monitor to do its work. As a standalone module to monitor the health of a server, the server Health Monitor isn’t that impressive; Remote Manager currently offers more options and extras. As an open standard for network management, however, OpenWBEM probably has a great future since it allows any device to be managed this way. The Health Monitoring Services in Open Enterprise Server are just a proof-of-concept of something that’s going to be used much more often in future versions of OES.
